The Layered City: Shoreditch Through the Lens, from Industrial to Creative Hub

£30.00

Photography Workshop and Pop-Up Exhibition

17 July 2026
9am - 6pm: Workshop
6pm - 10pm: Exhibition and Drinks

In collaboration with Archisource and the London Creates festival, Mass Collective launches a full-day photographic workshop in Shoreditch, East London.

Along the lines of the series of workshops of Hackney Urban Survey, this workshop and exhibition will take place at The Truman Brewery and will be led by Mass photographers.

Before it was London’s creative capital, Shoreditch was a gritty powerhouse of Victorian factories and weavers' lofts. This hands-on photography workshop invites participants to look beyond the graffiti and capture a neighbourhood in constant reinvention. We’ll explore Shoreditch as a living architectural timeline, where sleek 21st-century structures collide with weathered 19th-century brickwork. Through targeted composition briefs, you will learn to spot the visual tension, contrasting textures, and readapted spaces that define East London.

The workshop is open to 16 photographers, welcoming both professionals and passionate amateurs. On Friday 17th July, we’ll spend the day immersed in talks, shooting, and group reviews — all culminating in a pop-up exhibition as part of the London Creates series of events, where each participant will showcase a print produced during the day.
